Today's prompt was "Read a piece of text from a book or magazine using your instrument. Try to express the rhythm of the sound of the words." My music teacher has had me do this before, and it's a great way to discover new, organic rhythms. I pulled "The Peripheral" by William Gibson from the shelf and chose chapter 70 at random. It starts like this:
The kitchen was fragrant with the bilini Lev was making. "She's helping you with the stub," Netherton said. "She told me." Rainn was falling in the garden, on the artificial-looking leaves of the hostas. Did thylacines dislike rain?
