It was unseasonably warm in Santa Cruz today, so after I finished my TODO lists, I took the dog and walked down to the local brewery for a beer and a pretzel. I brought my Ableton Move as well and recorded some clips in a new session. To be honest, I wasn't particularly inspired by what I wrote, so I set it aside to finish after my music lesson.

At the end of the lesson this evening, we were talking about saturation and the new Roar audio effect in Ableton Live. I mentioned today's song, and we decided to slap some monster saturators on the tracks to see if it changed how I felt about it. Surprisingly, it did! I put together an arrangement, added a few fills, and ended up with a song that is kind of compelling. I named it "December Sun" to remind me of the day and because "January Sun", while technically more accurate, just sounds cold.
